On October 14, 2026, Ubisoft proposed closing RedLynx, the Helsinki studio behind the Trials series, affecting up to 52 positions. The same day, Ubisoft Singapore lost 70 positions, and reports said a voluntary departure plan could cut about 100 roles in Germany.

RedLynx: a proposed closure

Under Finnish rules, employers with 50 or more regular workers must hold formal change negotiations before workforce reductions, so the closure isn't final until those talks conclude.

According to Video Games Chronicle, as cited by Kotaku, Ubisoft said the studio is "not currently working on a new project" and that "resizing alone wouldn't keep it sustainable." Kotaku's own source disputes that, saying RedLynx was working on two unannounced projects until very recently.

RedLynx, acquired by Ubisoft in 2011, hasn't released a Trials game in seven years. It ported Star Wars Outlaws to Switch 2 and released Gwen's Getaway, a mobile match-3 game taken down after a year. In 2025, Ubisoft laid off more than half of the studio and moved the remaining team to mobile games only.

Ubisoft hasn't said what happens to the Trials series.

Singapore and Germany

  • Ubisoft Singapore stays open. "At Ubisoft Singapore, 70 positions have been impacted to align the studio with upcoming production needs," Ubisoft said. The studio made Skull and Bones and led Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.
  • Germany: according to Game File, as reported by Insider Gaming, about 100 roles could go across Düsseldorf, Berlin and Mainz through voluntary departures, more than half of them in Düsseldorf. "The voluntary plan is the primary measure being proposed to support the intended organizational changes," a Ubisoft representative said. Terms are still being negotiated with the works council.
