Ubisoft is shutting down Rainbow Six Mobile. The development team announced on October 8, 2026 that it had made "a difficult decision" to sunset the game, and all online services end on January 15, 2027.

The free-to-play shooter soft-launched in 2023 and launched worldwide on iOS and Android on February 23, 2026, less than eight months before the announcement. Pocket Tactics notes it reached ten million downloads on Google Play.

The reason given

Ubisoft didn't give a commercial reason or any figures. The team said it will move on to "other long-term strategic projects."

The Halifax closure

Ubisoft Halifax, which helped develop the game, was already gone. Ubisoft announced its closure in January 2026, shortly after its staff unionized, affecting 71 positions. Ubisoft said the decision was made "well before" the union vote. The union questioned the timing.

What players need to know

  • End of service: January 15, 2027. The game stays playable until then.
  • Content: the team said the next season would still start the week after the announcement.
  • Refunds: Ubisoft hasn't announced anything about purchases, refunds or in-game currency, and promised more details in the coming weeks.
  • Offline mode: none announced.

Until Ubisoft publishes its terms, there's no guarantee that unused premium currency will be refunded. Nintendo's mobile racer met a similar end: see our coverage of the Mario Kart Tour shutdown.
